Product details

A ready-to-fish trout fly box that takes the guesswork out of choosing flies, whether it's your first season or you just want to carry less.

What's inside - 26 flies across all three water columns:

  • Dries (surface): Parachute Adams, Elk Hair Caddis
  • Nymphs (sub-surface): Pheasant Tail, Hare's Ear
  • Streamer (mid-water): Woolly Bugger
  • +3 wildcard flies: every box includes 3 complementary wildcard flies.

Together they cover the way trout actually feed, season after season, from a mountain stream in BC to a tailwater in Vermont.

Includes an instruction card with guidance on when and how to fish each pattern, so you spend less time guessing and more time on the water.

Why this box exists

You don't need a hundred flies. You just need the right ones.

A typical fly shop sells a hundred patterns. A typical trout day asks for three or four of them. The other 96 sit in a drawer.

We built this box around the trout you'll actually fish for. We stripped away the clutter to curate a specific selection of patterns that cover the absolute most of trout feeding behavior. No guesswork. No filler. Just the confidence that you have exactly what you need.

Before you cast

Is this a good fly box for beginners?

Yes. The Everyday Trout Fly Box is built for beginner fly anglers who want to spend less time guessing and more time fishing. It includes a curated trout fly assortment across dry flies, nymphs, and streamers, plus a waterproof field card that helps you decide what to tie on at the water.

Will these flies work where I fish?

Yes. The Everyday Trout Fly Box is built for common trout water, from small creeks and rivers to lakes. The patterns are proven across North America and cover the main ways trout feed through the season: dry flies for surface activity, nymphs for sub-surface feeding, and streamers for deeper water or searching. The goal is not to match every local hatch perfectly. It is to give you a practical trout fly assortment that works across the situations most anglers actually face.

How do I know which fly to use?

Start with what you see on the water. If trout are rising, try a dry fly like a Parachute Adams or Elk Hair Caddis. If nothing is visible, start below the surface with a Pheasant Tail or Hare’s Ear. If the water is deeper, darker, or you want to search, use a Woolly Bugger. The included waterproof field card walks you through the decision in plain language.

Is this a good gift for someone who fly fishes?

Yes. It’s a practical fly fishing gift for beginners, casual trout anglers, or anyone who wants a cleaner everyday setup. The box is gift-ready, easy to understand, and built around flies trout anglers actually use, not filler patterns that sit in a drawer.

How big is the box, and will it fit in my pack?

Pocket-sized: 5.51″ × 3.74″ × 1.1″ (14 × 9.5 × 2.8 cm). It fits a jacket pocket, vest, sling, or pack without taking over your kit, and every fly sits held in foam so nothing shifts on the water.

I've fished a handful of times but never really understood fly selection. This box finally made it click. Everything's organized by where it fishes in the water column (surface, mid water, bottom), and the little instruction card explains when and how to actually use each one, which is exactly the piece I was missing.
